    About Us

    Ruth Meikle
(Midwife (sage femme libérale), First Aid Instructor, Antenatal Teacher)

Ruth studied in Scotland as a nurse in 1980, then chose midwifery, qualifying in 1981. She practised in the UK, Cyprus and mostly the UAE (in UK-run hospitals) where she gained a vast experience in all aspects of midwifery (including overall night responsibility for the hospital and supervision of the labour ward).

She arrived in Luxembourg in 1994, with a baby and pregnant, and immediately created the “Mums, Bumps & Babies” support group, which she hosted from home. Ever since, she has delivered many antenatal courses, while raising her 5 children and studying German and Luxembourgish.

In 2014 Ruth established herself as  a “sage-femme libérale” (independent midwife, recognised by Ministry of Health and CNS). She is also qualified as a Doula and a First Aid Instructor (Adult and Paediatric). Ruth is fluent in English and French and practices in both languages.

    Esther Arendt

(Midwife, Antenatal teacher and Hypnobirthing Teacher)

I trained as a midwife in Scotland between 2011 and 2014, and then

worked as a midwife in a hospital and midwife-led unit in England until 2016. Since late 2016 I returned to Luxembourg, where I come from, and I worked at CHL Maternity in the antenatal service and the perinatal center. I have an MSc in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I have also a HypnoBirthing teacher, and I offer this method of preparation for birth in groups or one-to-one.

An experienced coach and trainer, Kate spent more than 15 enjoyable years working in corporate training and development before the exhilarating ups and downs of her own journey to parenthood inspired her to train with the UK's largest parenting charity, National Childbirth Trust. Kate spent 5 years supporting new parents and their babies in inner city London before moving with her family to enjoy the country side and multi-cultural community on offer here in Luxembourg.

Kate has a Diploma in Postnatal Group Facilitation, gained from the University of Bedfordshire and certificates in Birth & Beyond, Postnatal Exercise and Infant Feeding gained from NCT in conjunction with the University of Worcester.
